First words

1 01 2009

They’re not very clear, but it sounds like Liam has said words. I’m sure in a few months I’ll be able to really tell if he’s talking. He’s been doin the “dada” & “mama” thing for a couple months. Now it seems he says “kiki” when he sees a kitty. and “emo” when he sees elmo. And if you ask him a question, or just have a conversation he’ll answer with “yeah”. I’m not sure if he’s talking, or mimicking sounds, or If I’m just being an overly hopeful mom. But, it’s really cool.

Could you?

I like animated shorts. This on has some heart to it. Sebastian’s Voodoo.

Religion.

27 12 2008

I have a definite faith. I’m just not a christian. I think that might have been confused from my last blog. I have researched many religions, and still haven’t found one that I completely believe in. There are two that I agree a lot with. Jewish, and Unitarian. I’m open to anything, and do love to learn about all religious traditions. I feel someday I might find one that I do agree with. Because of my not belonging, I’ve kind of attached to a few holidays.

We celebrate Christmas. But not for a Christ Mass. I have gone to Midnight mass. I find the Christian religions to be the most interesting. For me, it’s a day for sharing, and giving, and family. It works very well to do it on Christmas due to most of my family celebrates Christmas, and I have the day off. I’ve been trying over the past few years to find the true origins of Christmas traditions, the tree, ornaments, Santa, presents, ect. I’ve found alot have similarities to Pagan traditions. You may not like it, but it’s what I’ve found. I would love to know more about the factual reasons Christians have for these traditions. I’ve read many sweet stories, and wonder if any are true. I really love the giving, and helping. I plan on finding ways to volunteer with Liam when he gets older.

Santa, Liam will know about St Nicholas. But, I’m really not big on making a huge deal just to create a fantasy. I’ll find a different way to have him excited about the season. I’m sure Robin has.

Easter, I don’t really celebrate it.. I like the candy, but, when you aren’t a Christian. It kinda looses all the meaning. I still do a family get together, and the basket. But, more as a celebration that the winter is gone, and spring is here.

I don’t do Ash Wednesday, or passover, or pretty much any other religious holiday. But, I do love learning about them.

Our first Christmas

25 12 2008

So our first “family” Christmas is here. I think Liam has made out pretty good. He got clothes, and toys, and books. I made Liam a chair. I’m very proud of it. It took me about 2 hours, and I had no pattern to work from. He loves it. Every time I sit him in it he bounces & dances. His great-grands Tucholl Got him this train push toy thing. It’s really cool, I think it’s his favorite. It helps him walk, and he can put blocks in it.

Yesterday he took his first step. He was standing next to me, with somethin in his hand. And he stepped forward, and stayed standing until I went “eric, he just took a step”. I think that made him realize he was standing on his own. And he fell down. But, it was very exciting.

To believe in Santa. I’ve never been really fond of the whole “Santa” idea. I never really remember thinking he was real. Me and Eric were talking, and I doubt we’re going to have him visit our house. Or have Liam write Christmas wish lists to him. Partially for reasons Robin said, and partially because I don’t really see why we have our children believe in him in the first place… So many are truly afraid when they meet him. And so many more are heart broken when they find out the truth. I think it’s better to focus on the giving part of Christmas, and really appreciating everything we have been given.

C:\DOS\RUN Run\DOS\run

25 12 2008

So, with the lack of system integrity and non-existent gaming capability, I have decided to relive the “awesome 80’s” and play some of my old DOS games. Terminal Velocity, Commander Keen and Duke Nukem (side scroll and 3D) are just some of the games in my dusty arsenal. Now, I couldn’t use the DOS prompt with XP, so I found a program called DOSBOX that emulates the DOS system. It also allows you to up the frame rate if it runs slow, and you can mount an old CD to run in “emu-dos”. Ahhh, the memories…

Just thinking about parts….

20 12 2008

Would this be worth it? Could I use it for home gaming application? I saw someting like it in a magazine and thought it might be worth looking into…

Weather or not….

19 12 2008

1 shovel…12 inches of snow…no snowblower…yea me.

Soooo close.

17 12 2008

I’ve got 2 so close stories, and I’ll start with the one I’m sure your most interested in.

Liam is so close to walking. He stands on his own, and walks when holding on with just one hand. he just needs to take the “leap” and let go. We’re excited for his first Christmas, and my wish is he’ll walk then. (he’s already getting gifts in the mail :) )

I’m so close to having my own business. Me & my mom are working together again. We started a photography company a couple years ago. Now we’re pursuing it more. I’ve been working very hard on our website, and I would really love some critiquing from my fam. I know it needs some work, but I’m lost on what to do… Check it out here

Here’s some cute pics from Riley’s b-day party.

Merry Christmas, Honey??

Thinking about Christmas made me wonder what happens to all the guys that give inconsiderate, thoughtless and sometimes violent inducing gifts…The get put in the DOGHOUSE!

First Timer.

28 11 2008

Joce had to work today, but I didn’t. Judi was anticipating watching Liam, so I decided not to take that away from her. Called up my friend David who came up with the idea to go kill some time…literally. We proceeded south to Illinois and to the Outdoorsman. We bought some time and I got to shoot a .22 revolver for the first time. The I got to empty a box of .38 for the first time (6 shot revolver also). He then decided I should try his S&W .40, shot 2 rounds for the first time then put it down because it was slipping out of my hands when I pulled the trigger. I say the first time because I have NEVER fired a gun….ever. All my shots are low and to the right, but I shot a gun…finally. One more thing to cross (or shoot) of my things to do list.
