I have a definite faith. I’m just not a christian. I think that might have been confused from my last blog. I have researched many religions, and still haven’t found one that I completely believe in. There are two that I agree a lot with. Jewish, and Unitarian. I’m open to anything, and do love to learn about all religious traditions. I feel someday I might find one that I do agree with. Because of my not belonging, I’ve kind of attached to a few holidays.
We celebrate Christmas. But not for a Christ Mass. I have gone to Midnight mass. I find the Christian religions to be the most interesting. For me, it’s a day for sharing, and giving, and family. It works very well to do it on Christmas due to most of my family celebrates Christmas, and I have the day off. I’ve been trying over the past few years to find the true origins of Christmas traditions, the tree, ornaments, Santa, presents, ect. I’ve found alot have similarities to Pagan traditions. You may not like it, but it’s what I’ve found. I would love to know more about the factual reasons Christians have for these traditions. I’ve read many sweet stories, and wonder if any are true. I really love the giving, and helping. I plan on finding ways to volunteer with Liam when he gets older.
Santa, Liam will know about St Nicholas. But, I’m really not big on making a huge deal just to create a fantasy. I’ll find a different way to have him excited about the season. I’m sure Robin has.
Easter, I don’t really celebrate it.. I like the candy, but, when you aren’t a Christian. It kinda looses all the meaning. I still do a family get together, and the basket. But, more as a celebration that the winter is gone, and spring is here.
I don’t do Ash Wednesday, or passover, or pretty much any other religious holiday. But, I do love learning about them.
